This course is ideal for:

Experienced engineers and technicians working on refrigeration, air conditioning or heat pump systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases. 
- 
Learners undertaking a relevant Managed Learning Programme or qualification pathway into the HVAC/R industry. 
- 
Professionals who require an FGAS qualification as a legal requirement for working on systems containing fluorinated refrigerants. 
What to Expect
The course combines self-study with centre-based guided learning to give you the confidence and expertise to:
- 
Understand the environmental impact and legislation surrounding fluorinated greenhouse gases. 
- 
Safely handle, recover, and charge systems with refrigerants in line with current regulations. 
- 
Detect and repair refrigerant leaks and carry out pressure testing and system evacuation. 
- 
Demonstrate compliance with the F-Gas Regulation (EU 517/2014) and UK ODS Regulations. 
- 
Work confidently on the installation, servicing, maintenance, and decommissioning of F-Gas systems. 
Course Content
This course will provide in-depth guidance in the following areas:

Background and legislation 
- 
Environmental impact of fluorinated gases 
- 
F-Gas Regulation and ODS Regulations 
- 
System design and component function 
- 
Refrigerant handling and safety 
- 
Leak checking and detection methods 
- 
Refrigerant recovery, charging, and record-keeping 
- 
Pressure testing and system evacuation 
- 
Servicing and maintenance requirements 
- 
Legal obligations and documentation 
- 
Health, safety, and environmental best practices 
Pre-Requisites: (Learners must hold and evidence)
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Refrigeration, Heating and Ventilation, or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
 
- A recognised qualification in a related industry sector (e.g. Refrigeration, Heating & Ventilation); or
 
- A minimum of 2 years of auditable experience working within the Refrigeration or Heating & Ventilation sector.
In addition, learners must have a good practical working knowledge of soldering and brazing methods relevant to the work.
