A build up of limescale can severely reduce heating efficiency, create excessive noise and increase the risk of parts failure. Therefore, electrolytic scale reducers can be fitted to minimise the effects of limescale.

As water flows through the unit, it emits charged zinc ions which induce hardened salts to cluster together and pass through heating appliances rather than forming limescale deposits on the heat exchange or water heating elements.
